Andrew Sanderson FNAEA CPEA

Sell, sell, sell is what Andy wanted to do, even before he left school and this seemed to leave his careers tutor a bit stuck for advice! After a 5 year spell in Engineering and still no sales

opportunities on offer a change of direction was called for. The fleet of BMW's parked in front of the market leading local estate agency looked a good bet to work for and after a spell in direct sales, an opportunity cropped up with Lloyds Bank Black Horse Agencies in 1983.

After setting up an estate agency for a solicitors practice and then working for Prudential and Woolwich Property Services another challenge was needed, and in 1992 the Sanderson family relocated from Norwich and leapt at the chance of living in the mountainous countryside of Snowdonia. By 1998 the time was right to put all this experience and some of his own ideas into action and Sanderson estate agents was opened.

During 1999 and 2000 Andrew also studied hard to gain a Certificate of Practice in Estate Agency and achieved the distinction of becoming National Association of Estate Agents Student of the Year 2000.

Alison Sanderson B. A. Hons

Another newcomer to Wales! Alison was brought up and went to school on the Wirral, near Chester and spent many enjoyable family holidays in Snowdonia. She moved to Norwich to

Alison Sanderson
study at the University of East Anglia and it was here that she met Andrew. After graduating in 1982 she spent the next 2 years traveling around Europe and the Middle East. Traveling has proved to be a lifelong passion, one she now satisfies at every available opportunity! On returning to the UK she followed in her father and grandfathers footsteps by joining the Royal Insurance Company in their Norwich office.

In 1984 Alison and Andrew married and in 1987 she left work to raise their family, George (14), Grace (13) and Charlie (12). Over the next few years she worked from home on various projects including a catering business and sourcing and renovating antique Victorian fireplaces.

In 1997 Alison returned to work in the real world as the Personal Assistant to the Director of a Garden Tours Company. Over the next 2 years she was involved in many different areas of this business, organising visits to gardens all over the UK for travelers from around the world, and recently accompanied a tour to gardens in Italy. Thus she had many new skills, particularly in the fields of computers and office organisation, which she was able to put to good use when Sanderson Estate Agents opened in 1998. Alison works in the office in Barmouth and behind the scenes at home keeping the accounts (and her family!) in order.

Simon Williams

Simon was born and brought up in Barmouth. He worked for J Charles Hughes & Co Solicitors after leaving school. The bright lights of the south soon began to beckon his yuppie tendencies

Simon Williams
and Simon emigrated to deepest Surrey and the ex-Priminister's home town of Worcester Park. There he started learning the trade of estate agency with one of the trailblazing firms of Agents - Mann & Co.. Having had spells in Epsom, Ewell and Worcester Park he was then appointed Branch Manager in Reigate and firm grew from 60 offices to over 450 in 10 years.

Staying in the South of England he then went to work for Nationwide Estate Agents as they began to develop the agency arm of their business, a sense of deja vous occurred as he was promoted to Epsom Branch Manager. During the 1990's Simon dabbled and travelled, including a spell in Prague as a print broker and working on the film 'First Knight' with Sean Connery and Richard Gere. Following that he served as Manager of the West Bromwich Building Society in Dolgellau, then a career change again when he joined Pearl Assurance Plc.Then in 1999 he joined Sanderson Estate Agents. Simon will often be found on the golf course. However, whilst business has been going really well the old golf handicap has suffered up from 8 to 12. What about him as a person, always serious I don't think so, but certainly, he does take the job seriously. He wants to do the clients proud, with the old adage fast, efficient, professional and friendly.

Jane Downey

Brought up all over the place. You name it she probably lived there. As a child she spent 3 years living in Sweden, enjoying the delights of the winter wonderland and starting her love of

snow and the outdoors. Eventually leaving home and moving to Sunny South Africa to work for a welfare organisation for 3 1/2 years, furthering her love for the outdoors and starting a need for the SUN. On returning to the British Isles and the unfortunate weather conditions, it had to be a beautiful part of the country to satisfy, for her to settle down in. Hence the fact she moved here.

She has now lived in the area for 7 years, the longest she has ever lived anywhere! It must be good to compete with the likes of Sweden and South Africa! Work wise, she has always worked with people, all be this in very varied ways from teaching in a private school to handing out food parcels to the destitute. From teaching rock climbing to bookkeeping and now doing her bit for an up and coming Estate agency.

Lucy Thrush

Lucy first approached this firm for work experience when still at school a few years ago as she has always harboured a desire to be an estate agent. Luckily for us we found space for one

Lucy Thrush
more person in the office and in the meantime nobody else had snapped her up!.

Lucy began work with us in January 2002 and has all the attributes necessary to fit in with the existing office lifestyle, namely she is into motor bikes, fast cars and high living at the weekend!!!

Although fairly reserved at the outset Lucy has already settled in and is making a positive contribution to the high level of sales we have been arranging this year. Her friendly and helpful personality has made her very popular with many of our clients and we have received many glowing comments about her from buyers and sellers.
